- New Maintenance Module for Equipment Tracking System
Message from Irene Nesbit
The NAB trade show energized all of us here at NSi. We met many new people who are doing
innovative broadcasting. We also saw many long time customers and friends. Their loyalty
to our system speaks to our high quality of product and service. I am very proud of that.
We completed our installation at the AXA Gallery this past month. It is the first time we
have applied the Media Library System to art holdings. (The AXA Gallery is a small museum,
owned by Axa Financial. It is located at 51st and 7th Avenue in NYC and open to the
public.). We added viewable thumbnails and customized the data elements for inventory,
tracking and loaning of art works. It's great to see MLS working so well for this business.
About two years ago we started analyzing ways to bring digital video files into MLS. We
designed a module called Preview+ that supported ingestion and integration of digital files
and meta data into MLS. Once in MLS, the digital image can be viewed and its associated
data can be displayed. The goal is see all media types within the system. This past month
I started meeting with customers and colleagues to review this design and to determine what
your objectives are for the digital operation. I am still deep into my analysis g every
meeting. If I have not called you, please call me. I'd love to talk with you. Thanks,
and have a great summer.
New NSi Web Site
There are a few things on the new Nesbit Systems site we would like to point out. In
addition to the normal product and client listings we have added a series of white papers
and customer assistance worksheets that we feel will be beneficial to anyone who is taking
a look at their media asset management needs. Here is a quick summary of these papers:
- Ten Tips on Organizing Your Media Assets: a concise tutorial on efficiently managing your media library
- Reconsidering Digital Asset Management: a critical look at DAM in today's production environment amid the need to continue to track tape
- MLS Benefits and ROI: how the purchase of the Media Library System is cost effective and cost justified.
- Prospect Questionnaire: a brief questionnaire designed to help prospective customers think about their current media asset requirements and design a system to meet their unique needs.
Please take a look at these new items on our web site - we think you will find them interesting and useful.

New Maintenance Module for the NSi Equipment Tracking System
Our Equipment Tracking System (ETS) is used by major broadcast and cable companies to
archive, manage, ship and locate equipment assets as they are used in the production
process. We use bar code technology and powerful tracking software to allow for efficient
and flexible management of valuable equipment assets. We have just added a new Maintenance
Module to the system to provide detailed management of all maintenance issues for equipment.
The ETS Maintenance Module provides detailed information on maintenance of equipment assets,
including next maintenance due date; date of last maintenance and status; notes on equipment
maintenance; who performed the last maintenance; date shipped for maintenance and warranty
information and any cost related to past and current maintenance. Also, NSi will allow
additional data elements and report structures customized for individual company's needs.
We feel this new module will greatly add to the existing ETS system. For more information
please contact Don Fourre at 609 799 5071 or Donf@nesbit.com.
